Abs Control Module -J104- And Abs Hydraulic Unit -N55-, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With Fwd: Removing
-- Insert the :VAG1869/2 between the brake pedal and driver seat. Press the brake pedal 60 mm.
By doing this, the valves in the brake master cylinder are closed and the brake fluid reservoir does not run empty.
Risk of skin irritation.
- To prevent skin contact with brake fluid, wear chemical resistant protective gloves.
-- Remove the protective cap -3- from the bleeder screw -1- on the left front caliper.
-- Connect the bleeder bottle hose -2- as shown in the illustration.
-- Open the bleeder screw to reduce the pressure in the brake system.
-- Close the bleeder screw and remove the bleeder bottle.
-- Repeat the procedure on the rear left brake caliper.
Do not remove the :VAG1869/2 .
-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For engine(s) CRUA, DEJA] or ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [For engine(s) CNSB, CNTC] .
-- If installed, release the retainer in direction of -arrow-, pull the cover -1- off to the left and remove it.
-- Remove the wiring guide.
-- Press the securing clip down in direction of -arrow A-.
-- Disconnect the connector in direction of -arrow B-.

Make sure that no brake fluid enters control module connector housing. This could lead to corrosion of the contacts and thereby cause the system to fail.
Clean a dirty connector housing thoroughly with compressed air.
-- To protect against escaping brake fluid, place enough lint-free cloths in the area below the hydraulic control unit.
Danger of damaging the brake lines.
- Do not change bend shape.
-- Mark the brake lines on the hydraulic control unit.
-- Remove the union bolts for the brake lines in the sequence -6 through 1- and push the brake lines slightly to the side.
-- Immediately seal the open connection points with clean plugs from the Assembly Part Set:5Q0 698 311 .
-- Remove the hydraulic control unit -1- upward in direction of -arrow-.
-- Place the hydraulic control unit at the bottom of the engine compartment and secure it from falling down.
-- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION .
-- If installed, remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the drive axle heat shield.
Vehicles with Parking/Auxiliary Heater
-- Remove the front exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS [For engine(s) CNSB, CNTC] or EXHAUST PIPES/MUFFLERS [For engine(s) CNSB, CNTC] .
Continuation for all Vehicles
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the bracket from the hydraulic control unit.
-- Turn the hydraulic control unit and guide it out downward.
Risk of destroying the hydraulic control unit.
