Drive Plate With Overload Protection, Checking Run-Out And Adjusting
May only be removed when refrigerant circuit is opened or has been discharged; bring vehicle to a shop that has the necessary tools and in which the work can be performed accordingly by qualified personnel. Refer to REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT .
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Dial Gauge Holder:VW387
- Dial gauge
Procedure
-- Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, 8-CYLINDER FSI/TFSI ENGINE .
-- Clean the drive plate flange -A-.
-- Secure the gauge -B- to the A/C compressor with the Dial Gauge Holder:VW387 -C-.
-- Attach the dial gauge probe -D- to the drive plate flange with a pre-tensioning of approximately 1.0 mm and set the gauge to "0".
-- Turn the A/C compressor drive unit -E- a few turns.
- Target value for the run-out deviation: less than 0.21 mm.
- Maximum variance: 0.2 mm.
-- If the run-out deviation is greater than 0.2 mm, repeat the adjustment for the drive plate. Refer to DRIVE PLATE WITH OVERLOAD PROTECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
