7.2 Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera, Removing and Installing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Narrow medium hard clip release lever from the Filling Aid for Engine Oil - VAS6845-, not illustrated.
NOTE:
If replacing the control module, select the "Replace Control Module" function using the -Vehicle Diagnostic Tester-.
Removing
- Cabriolet: Remove the windshield frame trim panel. Refer to Body Interior; Rep. Gr. 70; Interior Trim Panels
- Unclip the cover -1- with the narrow medium-hard clip release lever in direction of -arrow A- and remove downward, by carefully inserting the clip release lever between the windshield and the cover.
- Disengage the front cover on the front camera bracket in direction of -arrows B- and remove downward.
- Position the screwdriver -2- on the retaining pin -3- as illustrated and slowly press the front camera -6- out of the retaining clip -4- in direction of -arrow-.
- Remove the front camera out of the guides for the retaining plate -1-.
- Disconnect the connector -5- and remove the front camera.
Lens Shade, Removing
- Free up the connector -4- and disconnect the connector -3-.
- Press the retainers in direction of -arrow- and remove the lens shade -2- downward from the retaining plate -1-.
Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:
NOTE:
- The camera vision range on the inside of the windshield must not be fogged up or dirty.
- The retaining clips must be replaced each time the front camera is removed.
- Remove the retaining clip -2- in direction of -arrow- from the mount -1- and insert a new one.
- Clean the lens on the windshield with Cleaning Solution - D 009 401 04-.
- Calibrate the driver assistance systems front camera. Refer to 4.1 DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS FRONT CAMERA, CALIBRATING
