Heater Control Module -J65- /A/C Control Module -J301- /CLIMATRONIC Control Module -J255-, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install In Reverse Order Of Removal. Note The Following: 

-- Vehicles with Automatic climate control: Check the infrared sensor -arrow- for dirt and clean if necessary.

-- Check the four clamp on the control head if a clamp is bent too far, bend it back.

NOTE:

A dirty infrared sensor leads to problems regulating the A/C system. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding"  function.

There are different versions of the Heater Control Module -J65- / A/C Control Module -J301- / Climatronic Control Module -J255- (different functions, with different symbols and lettering on the buttons and control dials) pay attention to the correct allocation.

On vehicles with a manually regulated A/C system, the control head (the A/C Control Module -J301-) buttons have different labeling. At the start of production, the A/C Control Module -J301- was installed with a AC  button label. In MY 2013, a gradual change was made to the A/C  label.

The control head (the Heater Control Module -J65- on vehicles without an A/C system and the A/C Control Module -J301- on vehicles with a manual climate control system) there are different symbols on the "Air distribution knob", pay attention to the different version, the running change was gradually introduced from MY 2014.

On vehicles with an automatically regulated A/C system, the control head (the Climatronic Control Module -J255-) buttons have different labeling. At the start of production the Climatronic Control Module -J255- with the "Defrost mode button" lettering with Front  installed in MY 2014 the gradual change was made to the lettering of this button to MAX  .

Different versions of the Climatronic Control Module -J255- A/C control head on vehicles with and without a high voltage system. Refer to VEHICLES WITH AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL, CLIMATRONIC CONTROL MODULE -J255- .

If a control head with to wide bent clip was installed, it may not be able to be removed from the instrument panel again (the clips engage to strongly in the mount).

A head area heater is installed as optional equipment for the A3 Cabrio. On vehicles with a head area heater there is an additional vent installed in the seat and in the A/C control head the Climatronic Control Module -J255- there are additional buttons -1 and 2- to switch on and off the head area heater. -- Check the DTC memory, erase any displayed entries, and perform the "basic setting". Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding"  function.

-- Check the heater and A/C unit function.
