1. Selector Mechanism Function Test
- Never operate the starter when the selector lever is in "D/S", "R" and the "tiptronic gate".
- If the selector lever position "N" is selected at speeds greater than 5 km/h, the Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- does not engage and locks the selector lever. The selector lever can be shifted into another gear.
- If the selector lever position "N" is selected at speeds below 2 km/h (almost stopped), the Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- may only engage after approximately one second. The selector lever can only be moved out of "N" when the brake pedal is pressed.
Selector lever in "P" :
-- Press the parking brake button to activate the electro-mechanical parking brake.
-- Turn off the ignition.
- The selector lever is locked and cannot be shifted out of the "P" position when the locking button on the selector lever handle is pressed.
-- To reach the "ignition on" position, briefly press the ignition key in the ignition lock or the Access/Start Authorization Button -E408-.
-- Do not press the brake pedal.
- The selector lever is locked and cannot be shifted out of the "P" position when the locking button on the selector lever handle is pressed. The Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- locks the selector lever.
-- Press the brake pedal and hold.
- The Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- unlocks the selector lever. It is possible to select a gear. Press the locking button on the selector lever handle and slowly move the selector lever from "P" through "R, N, D/S". While doing this, check if the Transmission Range Display -Y6- in the instrument cluster matches the selector lever position.
-- Pull the selector lever toward the rear out of "D/S" and then release it again.
- The selector lever moves automatically back into "D/S". The Transmission Range Display -Y6- in the instrument cluster must switch from "D" to "S1" and then go back to "D" after pulling the lever toward the rear.
Selector lever in "N" and ignition switched on:
-- Do not press the brake pedal.
- After a brief wait time: The selector lever is locked and cannot be moved out of "N" even though the locking button on the selector lever handle is pressed. The Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- locks the selector lever.
-- Press the brake pedal.
- The Shift Lock Solenoid -N110- unlocks the selector lever. It is possible to shift into "D/S".
Selector lever in "D/S" and ignition switched on:
-- Guide the selector lever into the "tiptronic gate".
- The illumination of the "D/S" symbol in the Selector Lever Transmission Range Position Display Unit -Y26- must go out and the "+" and "-" symbols must turn on.
- The Transmission Range Display -Y6- in the instrument cluster must switch from "D" to "M1" when moving the selector lever into the "tiptronic gate"
If the specified values are not obtained:
-- Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in Guided Fault Finding for Fault Finding.
-- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to SELECTOR LEVER CABLE, CHECKING AND ADJUSTING .
-- Check the locking button on the selector lever handle. Refer to 4. Selector Lever Handle Locking Button, Checking .
