Selector Lever Cable, Checking And Adjusting: Notes
- To check the selector lever cable for ease of movement, remove it from the transmission and position the removed end so it does not make contact anywhere.
- The selector lever is then moved and then the selector lever cable is re-attached.
- After that, the selector lever cable must be adjusted. Refer to Adjusting: .
- Do not grease the selector lever cable connection.
Checking
-- Move the selector lever into "P" position.
-- Loosen the adjusting screw -arrow- on the selector lever cable -1-.
CAUTION:
Risk of damaging the selector mechanism by incorrectly installing the selector lever.
- Do not press the locking button on the selector lever handle.
-- Pry the selector lever cable -1- off the selector shaft lever -2- using for example an open end wrench.
-- Move the selector lever from "P" to "D/S" and back to "P" several times.
- The selector lever and selector lever cable must move easily while doing so.
-- Install the selector lever cable again.
-- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to Adjusting: .
The selector lever cable must always be adjusted if:
- The selector lever cable was removed from the transmission.
- The engine and (or) transmission were removed and installed.
- Sections of the subframe mount were removed and installed.
- The cable itself or the selector mechanism was removed and installed.
- The engine/transmission position was changed, for example, were installed without tension.
