Radio Service Modes
The service mode or "self test" of the radio enables the technician to retrieve important information and make various adjustments quickly and easily without removing the radio or using diagnostic equipment.
Based on the type of radio, the information displayed during the Service Mode will vary.
To enter the service mode :
- Turn ignition to KLR
- Turn radio on
- Within 8 seconds press and hold the "m" button (manual scan)
- First display will be radio serial number indicating that the radio is in the service mode.
NOTE:
E38 with MID press and hold the WB (Weather Band) button.
The information found in the service mode includes:
- SN Serial Number
- SV Software Version
- GAL Speed Sensitive Volume (adjustment)
- Signal Strength Verifies antenna and tuner effectiveness
- DSP Digital Signal Processor (0 or 1) yes or no.
- TP-V Traffic program (not used in US)
- Area Selects market area (Europe, USA, Canada)
- AF Alternative Frequency (not used in US)
