System function
The synchronization of the LIN bus takes place at the beginning of each message transmitted by the master. This results in a so-called "self-synchronization" of the data bus without a quartz given clock.
Components on the LIN bus, which correspond to the specifications of the data protocol LIN V2.0 have an extended scope.
- The components for V2.x are delivered with a device id and basic configuration. The final (dynamic) configuration and the allocation of the identification number takes place during the start-up via the master control unit.
- The data protocol has become more variable. As of specification V2.0, if desired, sporadic messages are also permitted in addition to the periodic messages.
- The master control units can transmit so-called multiple queries to a group of slaves. In order to reduce the load on the data bus, the addressed slaves only respond when values are modified (e.g. door contact).

General notes
All master control units of the specification LIN V2.0 and higher are backwards compatible to the components of the previous specification. But all slaves V2.0 also require a master control unit V2.0 and higher.
