Car Access System/Front Electric Module/Body Domain Controller (CAS/FEM/BDC) Enable Line: Notes
The function of the CAS/FEM/BDC enable line is to relay the engine start "enabled" status from the DDE to the CAS/FEM/BDC. The DDE uses various statuses to determine whether the engine start can be enabled. These statuses may be, for example:
- EWS enabled
- Brake operated
- Clutch operated
- Preheating active
The DDE runs a check on the status conditions as soon as the vehicle is unlocked and then relays the engine start "enabled" status to the CAS/FEM/BDC. If the Start button is not pressed within a few seconds, the start enable is withdrawn. If the engine start request is detected via terminal 50, the engine start enable status is transferred again.
Once the DDE transmits the release to enable the engine start and Terminal 50 is detected the CAS/FEM/BDC enables activation of the starter.
In a simultaneous action the S_START signal indicating "enabled" status for an engine start is relayed through the CAN bus/FlexRay.
