General notes
Important! Learning the limit positions.
After replacement of the steering, the limit positions of the steering box must be relearned. Incorrectly learned limit positions can lead to sudden disappearance of steering power assistance in the end stop.
The following preconditions must be met on learning the end stops:
- Vehicle parked on a level surface.
- Front wheels free for steering wheel movements.
- Engine running.
- Vehicle stationary.
- Brake pedal not pressed and parking brake not engaged.
- No fault entry in the dynamic stability control (DSC) and the steering column switch cluster (SZL).
- Indicator light and Check Control symbol light up in the instrument panel.
- Steering wheel in straight-ahead position.
On learning the end stops, the steering wheel must be fully turned slowly once to the left and once to the right. The steering speed must be below 1 steering wheel turn per second. In the end stops, slowly increase the steering force until the steering wheel no longer turns.
After approx. 5 seconds, the indicator light and Check Control symbol in the instrument panel go out.
