51 33... Note on installation status of the power window regulator system
Special tools required:
From 04/2013 only power window regulators made by "Brose" are still installed during production.
On vehicles with a version before 03/2013 the installation status must be checked.
Open complete door window glass.
Insert special tool 2 298 505 in window cavity as illustrated and look at deflecting element (1).
- Visible deflecting element = "Inteva" system (up to 03/2013)
- Covered deflecting element = "Brose" system (from 04/2013)
Install replacement part according to the version.
If a replacement part is not available for the "Inteva" system, a conversion must be made to the "Brose" system.
The following parts must be replaced at both front or rear doors for conversion to the "Brose" system.

- Door window glass . See 51 32 170 REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING DOOR WINDOW GLASS, FRONT LEFT OR RIGHT or 51 34 171 REPLACING REAR LEFT OR RIGHT DOOR WINDOW
Attention! The following mixed installation of components from different manufacturers is not possible for technical reasons:
- Mixed installation inside one door (constructional differences)
- Mixed installation between left and right (software differences)
Mixed installation between the front and rear door is permissible.
Connect the ISTA/P programming system and perform a conversion using ISTA/P after having modified the power window lifter system.
Selection : "Conversion, exchange of front power window" or "Conversion, exchange rear power window".
Then perform VEHICLE PROGRAMMING .
