67 62... Notes on initializing power window
NOTE:
An initialization
must be performed:
- In the event of malfunctions: e.g. one-touch function (automatic mode) for closing not possible, convenient closing not possible, window reversed without there being trapping
- After the power window regulator drive or footwell module has been replaced.
- After work is carried out on the power window mechanism
NOTE:
Initialization
is performed on the power window switch of the relevant door.
Initialization comprises:
- An automatic operation for teaching in the power window regulator by the diagnosis system (normalization, learning of characteristic curve)
- And a manual operation for teaching in the power window regulator (teaching in the stiff movement due to the seals)
WARNING:
There is no anti-trapping protection during initialization.
Necessary preliminary tasks
- Vehicle stationary
- Sufficient battery voltage available/connect charger if necessary
- Terminal "15" switched on
- All doors closed
IMPORTANT:
If the windscreen reverses at top dead center when the diagnosis command "Initialize power window" is executed, i.e. travels back at top dead center
, the soft top must be opened and the automatic operation repeated.

Automatic operation
- Select and start service function (testing procedure) "Initialize power window" on diagnosis system.
Selection via:
- Body
- Locking and security functions
- Power windows
- Initialize power windows
- Power windows

- Body
- Execute automatic sequence for teaching in power window regulator. (The relevant window is opened and closed. Top and bottom dead centers are taught in.)
Do not terminate service function.
Manual operation
In this operation it is necessary to place the power window regulator in panic mode to teach in the stiff movement due to the seals.
- 3. Simulate exit from the vehicle:

- Entry through the driver's door
- Remove key

- 4. Simulate entry into the vehicle:
- Open and fully close driver's door
- Insert spare key and turn on ignition
- 5. Full open windscreen (which is being initialized).WARNING: Risk of injury!
The Panic mode function is activated in this operation, i.e. the windscreen is closed without active anti-trapping protection. - 6. Pull and hold power window switch in 2nd position and have the window glass reverse in the position shown.
- 7. Immediately after reversing, release the switch, remove hand from the window area and pull the switch straight away into position 2 again. Keep switch pulled until windscreen is fully closed.
- 8. Remove key and exit vehicle.
- 9. Continue service function on diagnosis system. The Speed command is sent from the diagnosis system to the footwell module.
