Influences Due To Faults In The Vehicle That Cannot Be Detected By The Park Distance Control (PDC) Control Module: Notes

The function of the parking aid can be disrupted by faults in the vehicle that are not detected by the PDC control module.

The following questions help to localize possible causes:

  1. Are all the ultrasonic sensors fitted correctly?
    • The ultrasonic sensors must be firmly seated and locked in place in the bracket.
    • The ultrasonic sensor must be seated centrically in the bracket or in the bumper opening.
    • The angle of radiation of the ultrasonic sensors must be correct (conditional on the position of the bracket in the bumper and the bumper itself).
    • The cables to the ultrasonic sensors must not be under tension. (At low temperatures, tensile stresses might increase and can lead to cable damage.)
  2. Is the PDC control module correctly encoded and programmed?
  3. Are the following components that might be related to the parking aid free of faults?
    • Reverse signal
    • PDC button
    • Loudspeakers, acoustic signal
    • Screen, instrument cluster, head unit
    • Back-up camera
    • Other environment detection systems
