Bluetooth test with the (IMIB) Integrated Measurement Interface BoxR2

Using the Integrated Measurement Interface Box R2 (IMIB) it is possible to perform an independent Bluetooth test of the vehicle components. The IMIB acts in a similar way to a mobile phone, and can be connected to the vehicle to checked in this way. Please refer to the operating instructions of the vehicle for the procedure for establishing a Bluetooth connection to the vehicle, also known as Bluetooth pairing.

NOTE: The result of the Bluetooth test, as an independent  version on the IMIB, is not  taken over into the diagnosis report. The Bluetooth test is to be used as an additional tool for the diagnosis on the vehicle. If the test is not  completed successfully, a vehicle diagnosis must be performed using the diagnosis system! Warranty-related invoicing can only take place after a full diagnosis has taken place.

The following general conditions must be taken into account in order to be able to successfully carry out the Bluetooth test.

The Integrated Measurement Interface Box R2 (IMIB) also supports the SSP (Secure Simple Pairing) connection type. Step 5 will look at this connection option in more detail.

Proceed as follows to perform the Bluetooth test:

Step 1 (Preparing the IMIB)

In the IMIB main menu, select the bottom right menu item and then the < Bluetooth test > menu item.

NOTE: If the Bluetooth test was not successful, carry out the test again with the IMIB held close to the Bluetooth control unit (ULF, TCU, Combox, headunit or radio, depending on vehicle equipment). If the vehicle is found when the Bluetooth test is performed near the control unit, then the fault is most likely due to the Bluetooth antenna cable connector on the control unit. In this case, continue the troubleshooting there.

Important Limited connection time!

In the case of a timeout during while establishing a connection or transmitting the Bluetooth passkey, the connection is automatically interrupted after approx. 30 seconds. A message then appears on the IMIB display.
