Brief description: Notes

The steering column has two adjusting motors for independent adjustment of the two axes. The normalization of the system is necessary so that absolute values of the steering column position can be output. The position is in the slot by the sensors fitted in the motors. As this does not record an absolute position, learning a reference position, the so-called "normalization" is necessary.

In principle, the steering column adjustment is also operative without normalization.

The complete normalization measures the entire system and saves the data in the position memories. Subsequently, only the zero point can shift, not the entire length or inclination. For these reasons, normalization has been split into full normalization and partial normalization. It is adequate to run the complete normalization once. Usually, the length and inclination of the adjusting path no longer change. However, the zero point can still shift. To balance this out, partial normalization is used.
