Microswitch, tailgate hinge: Notes

If the rotary striker switch in the tailgate lock malfunctions, the switch over of particular lighting functions between the rear lights in the tailgate and the rear lights in the rear apron is guaranteed via the microswitch of tailgate hinge.

The microswitch is mechanically operated via the left hinge of the tailgate. If the microswitch switches, particular lighting functions (depending on the prescribed local regulations) are additionally transmitted by the 2 rear lights in the tailgate (top left rear light and top right rear light) to the 2 rear lights in the rear apron (bottom left rear light and bottom right rear light). Reason: The 2 rear lights in the tailgate cannot be seen when the tailgate is open. Due to prescribed local regulations, make sure that particular lighting functions are also visible to the following traffic when the tailgate is open.

Depending on the national-market version and the state of the tailgate (closed or open) the following lighting functions are displayed via the rear lights:

The Body Domain Controller (BDC) activates all the lighting functions.
