Charging parameters for lithium-ion batteries

As part of the market introduction of F80/82 and the associated use of a lithium starter battery, there are new requirements for battery charge computer on the part of the BMW Group. These new requirements relate to the charging voltage and trickle charging voltage. In order to use the currently available chargers for lithium ion batteries, these two parameters must be adjusted on the device manually.

BMW-recommended charging devices:

NOTE: Refer to the equipment manufacturer's instructions for charging.
IMPORTANT:

It is recommended to use devices after this change only in combination with lithium ion batteries. Use with lead-based batteries does not result in a short-term destruction of the battery, but there are negative effects in the long run. An AGM battery would need a very long time for a full charge. In a wet battery, the higher trickle charging voltage results in increased gassing.
