Environmental air catalyst sensor: Notes
A catalytic coating of the radiator reduces the ozone in the air mass flow to oxygen. The US authorities EPA and the Californian Environmental Authorities CARB grant credits with regard pollutant emissions. Together with additional measures, it is possible to achieve the SULEV standard.
The presence of the catalytic coated radiator must be monitored via the environmental air catalyst sensor by the on-board diagnosis.
The environmental air catalyst sensor clearly identifies a catalytic coated radiator, which is able to convert ozone (O3 ) to oxygen (O2 ).
