Parking maneuvering assistant (PMA): Notes

The park maneuvering assistant (cost option 5DP with link to PDC parking assist) offers the driver a useful tool when searching for a parking space, and when parking in longitudinal parking slots.

Marketing calls this system Park Assist.

NOTE: Parking in perpendicular parking spaces is realized with two additional ultrasonic sensors (rear side left and rear right side).

Park assist system informs the driver whether a parking space is large enough for parking the vehicle. Park Assist also carries out steering wheel movements on its own to place the vehicle into the parking space. The parking space can be on either driver or passenger's side of the car. The driver retains control over the vehicle through use of the accelerator pedal and brake pedal. This means that the driver, no longer involved in the complex task of steering, is able to focus full attention on the surrounding area and identify potential hazards in plenty of time.
