In-Car Sensor
The in-car sensor is mounted behind a small grille on the instrument panel to sense in-car temperature. An aspirator mounted on the air conditioning housing is connected to the in-car sensor by a small hose. Through this hose, air is drawn from the passenger compartment and over the sensor (during system operation). A thermostatic switch is used in conjunction with the sensor. This switch is mounted on the control head or at the in-car sensor. If a temperature of 80°F or above is reached, the thermostatic switch will close to provide a ground for the control head and lo relay winding. The system will then immediately turn on to provide air conditioning.
