SECURITY SYSTEM Indicator Does Not Light (Remote Keyless Entry/Theft Deterrent Operates Normally)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

1) Disconnect Remote Control Door Lock Receiver/Theft Deterrent Module (RCDLR/TDM) connector. Disconnect connector C1 from CCM. Shut all doors. Using ohmmeter, check for continuity between CCM connector C1 terminals B11 (White wire) and B10 (Tan wire).

2) If continuity is present, repair short to ground in White or Tan wire. Check for defective or loose door lock switches.

3) If no continuity is present, reconnect RCDLR/TDM and CCM connectors. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT PANEL article in this section. Connect test light between instrument cluster connector C2 terminal No. 7 (Dark Green wire) and voltage. Open door.

4) If test light does not flash on and off, check for open circuit in Dark Green wire. If wire is okay, replace RCDLR/TDM. If test light does flash on and off, connect test light between connector C2 terminal No. 8 (Orange wire) and ground.

5) If test light does not light, check for open or short to ground in Orange wire or bad instrument panel fuse. If test light does light, check for bad SECURITY indicator bulb. If bulb is okay, replace instrument cluster.
