Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Disconnect the 14-way connector (1) from the Ignition Control Module (ICM).
3. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the coil assemblies. Note the wire positions before removal.




4. Remove the 6 screws (1) securing the coil assemblies (2) and the ICM.
5. Remove the coils (2) and the ICM (3).
6. Separate the coils from the ICM.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Attach the coils (2) to the ignition control module (3) and position the ICM on the module bracket.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




2. Reinstall the 6 ignition coil attaching screws (1)

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 5 Nm (40 lb in)

3. Reconnect the spark plug wires.




4. Connect the 14-way connector (1) to the ICM.
