DTC B1004: Control Module Keep Alive Memory Malfunction: Description

Body Control Module (BCM) performs a self-test to detect any internal fault when ignition switch is turned to RUN position. No external circuits other than ground and power are involved. If an internal Keep Alive Memory (KAM) in EEPROM fault exists, DTC B1004 is set and BCM defaults to hard coded functions. All BCM customer controlled personal settings must be reset. A current DTC B1004 will clear from memory when BCM makes a successful write function to EEPROM and checksum maneuver after ignition switch is turned from RUN position to OFF position, then back to RUN position. A history DTC B1004 will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles if condition for setting DTC is no longer present. DTC will also clear when scan tool is used to clear DTCs.
