Remote Keyless Entry Transmitter Programming

CAUTION: Once first Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitter enters programming mode, all previous RKE transmitter codes are erased. All RKE transmitters must be reprogrammed.
NOTE: Programming of RKE transmitters requires GM Tech 2 scan tool or equivalent. RKE transmitters can not be programmed simultaneously. First RKE transmitter must be programmed completely before programming next RKE transmitter(s). A maximum of 4 RKE transmitters may be programmed into BCM memory.
  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. See Figure .
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
  3. Using scan tool select APPLICATION MENU, then "F0" (BODY CONTROL MODULE).
  4. In BODY CONTROL MODULE menu, select "F2" (SPECIAL FUNCTIONS).
  5. In SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu select "F3" (PROGRAM KEY FOBS).
  6. Follow scan tool prompts to program transmitters.
  7. Press EXIT repeatedly until scan tool displays APPLICATION MENU.
  8. Disconnect scan tool from DLC.
  9. Verify system operation.
