Windshield Washer Switch Circuit Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 Buick Regal. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the S82 windshield wiper/washer switch.
- With RAP OFF, MDI disconnected, wait one minute, test for less that 5 Ω between the low reference terminal 2 and ground.
- If greater than the specified range, test the low reference circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
- Ignition ON, verify the scan tool Windshield Washer Switch parameter is INACTIVE.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit terminal 5 for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
- Install a 3 A fused jumper wire between the signal circuit terminal 5 and ground. Verify the scan tool Windshield Washer Switch parameter is ACTIVE.
- If not the specified value, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the S82 windshield wiper/washer switch.
