Removal Procedure

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  3. Fig 1: Battery Fuse Box Cover

  4. Unlock the retaining tab (1) on the battery fuse box cover.
  5. Use a suitable screwdriver (2) to unlock the clip (4) through the window (3).

    NOTE:

    Pull the battery fuse box housing. DO NOT pull the flap.

  7. Open the battery fuse box cover (1).

  9. Remove the battery hold down retainer nut (5).
  10. Remove the battery hold down retainer (6).
  11. Remove the battery positive cable to starter cable nut (1).
  12. Remove the battery positive cable to starter cable (7).
  13. Loosen the 2 battery positive plate nuts (2).
  14. Loosen the battery positive cable nut (3).
  15. Remove the battery positive cable (4).

  17. Unclip the battery fuse block retainer clips (1) from the battery and reposition the battery fuse block along with the battery positive cable.

    NOTE:

    Only necessary if vehicle is equipped with a short battery.

  19. Unclip the battery tray protector retainer (2) from battery tray.
  20. Remove the battery tray protector (1) by moving rearward, in the direction of the arrow.

  22. Move the battery (1) forward, in the direction of the arrow and lift to remove.
