Remove Procedure

  1. Remove the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Fig 1: Battery Fuse Box Flap & Retaining Tabs

  3. Unlock the retaining tab (2) on the battery fuse box cover.
  4. Open the battery fuse box flap (1).
  5. Unlock the retaining tab (3) and open the battery fuse box cover.

    NOTE:

    Pull the battery fuse box housing. DO NOT pull the flap.

  7. Open the battery fuse box cover (1)
  8. Remove the battery positive to starter cable nut (2).
  9. Remove the battery positive to starter cable (3) from the battery.

  11. Remove the negative cable nut (1).
  12. Remove the negative cable (2).
  13. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  14. If equipped, remove the front compartment splash shield. Refer to Front Compartment Insulator Replacement .

  16. Remove the starter and generator positive cable nut (2) and the starter and generator positive cable (3).
  17. Remove the starter nut (6) and the starter ground cable (5).
  18. Unclip the starter and generator positive cable clip (1) from oil level indicator tube.
  19. Unclip the 2 starter and generator positive cable retainers (4) from the transmission brackets.

  21. Fold the generator cap (3) aside.
  22. Remove the starter and generator positive cable retaining nut (2) and the starter and generator positive cable (1).
  23. Remove the starter and generator positive cable from the vehicle.
