Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2012 Buick Verano. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Driver Door Latch Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X4 harness connector at the K84 keyless entry control module.
- Test for infinite resistance between the control circuit terminal 3 and ground.
- If less than the specified value, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
- Ignition OFF, connect the X4 harness connector at the K84 keyless entry control module.
- Disconnect the harness connector at the A23D door latch assembly - driver.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 5 and control circuit terminal 10.
- Pull and release the exterior driver door handle, the test lamp should briefly illuminate while the exterior door handle is being pulled.
- If the test lamp is always OFF, test either control circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuits test normal, replace the K84 keyless entry control module.
- If the test lamp is always ON, test either control circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuits test normal, replace the K84 keyless entry control module.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the A23D door latch assembly - driver.
Passenger and Rear Door Release Command Inoperative
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the X4 harness connector at the K84 keyless entry control module.
- Test for infinite resistance between the control circuit terminal 14 and ground.
- If less than the specified value, test the control circuit for a short to ground. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the K84 keyless entry control module.
Passenger or Rear Door Latch Malfunction
- Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate A23 door latch assembly.
- Connect a test lamp between the control circuit terminal 5 and control circuit terminal 10:
- Pull and release the appropriate exterior door handle, the test lamp should briefly illuminate while the exterior door handle is being pulled.
- If all circuits test normal, test or replace the A23 door latch assembly.
