Inadvertent Start/Stop Button Press While Driving Causing Engine To Turn Off/Stall (PI1395)
Reference number: PI1395
INADVERTENT START/STOP BUTTON PRESS WHILE DRIVING CAUSING ENGINE TO TURN OFF/STALL
TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN
| AFFECTED MODEL(S): | 2013-2014 Buick Verano, Cadillac ATS; Equipped with Keyless Access with Push-Button Start/Stop (RPO ATH) |
CONDITION/CONCERN
Some customers may comment that the vehicle intermittently stalls while driving, but there is no malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) or codes stored and you are unable to duplicate this condition.
This condition may be due to the customer inadvertently pressing the start/stop button during the course of normal vehicle operation, which can cause the engine to turn off.
RECOMMENDATION/INSTRUCTIONS
A new calibration is available to change the amount of time the start/stop button must be pressed in order to turn off the vehicle. Button press time will be increased from .5 seconds to 2 seconds. By increasing the amount of time that the button must be held, the customer will be less likely to inadvertently turn off the engine during the normal course of vehicle operation. Technicians should reprogram the body control module (BCM) using the Service Programming System (SPS) with the latest calibrations available on TIS2WEB. Refer to the Body Control Module Programming and Setup procedure in SI.
