Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair

Fig. 74 Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) removal:





1. Remove air cleaner assembly.
2. Disconnect electrical connector from TPS.
3. Remove TPS attaching screws and the TPS, Fig. 74.
4. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install TPS with throttle in normal closed idle position.
b. When installing TPS, ensure pickup lever on the sensor is located above tang on throttle actuator lever.
c. Do not apply locking compound to TPS attaching screws.
d. Do not tighten TPS attaching screws until TPS has been properly adjusted. Refer to ``Adjustments.''
