Chart G Solenoid Valves: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1988 Buick Riviera and 1988 Buick Reatta. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

This flow chart is to be used when directed by other flow charts or tests. The purpose is to hydraulically verify operation of the solenoid valves which modulate brake fluid pressure while in anti-lock mode. This test may be performed for individual pairs of solenoid valves (as directed by the appropriate diagnostic procedure) or for all sensors as a system check. Instal J 35592 and raise car so that wheels clear the ground (an assistant may be required to spin the wheels).

NOTE: DO NOT  leave the ignition on for more than 30 seconds with jumper wires installed as described in the flow chart. Solenoid valve damage may result.
