Charts F Through F4 Wheel Sensor Output: Notes

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1988 Buick Riviera and 1988 Buick Reatta. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Chart F is to be used first when directed by another flow chart or test. This chart identifies wheel speed sensor circuits which may be demonstrating low wheel speed sensor output signals. Chart F will determine which chart (F1 to F4) will be used to further diagnose the wheel sensor output. Test F may be performed for individual wheel speed sensors (as directed by the appropriate diagnostic procedure) or for all sensors as a system check. Install J 35592 Pinout box and raise car so that wheels clear the ground (an assistant may be required to spin the wheels).

Wheel sensor consists of a permanent magnet and coil. Each time toothed sensor ring passes sensor, an AC current is sent to EBCM. The EBCM uses this information to calculate individual wheel speed.
