Note On INTERMITTENTS

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1988 Buick Riviera and 1988 Buick Reatta. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Intermittent failures may be difficult to accurately diagnose. To help isolate intermittent failure, display and clear all EBCM codes. Test drive vehicle. Ensure vehicle has exceeded 20 MPH. Attempt to repeat circumstances which lead to original problem.

Attempt to display trouble code. If no trouble code is displayed, perform symptom diagnosis. Most intermittent problems are due to poor electrical connections. Most common intermittent problem areas are low system voltage, low brake fluid or low accumulator pressure.
