Test No. 12: Mirror Memory Function Switch Inoperative

  1. If outside mirrors system check was performed, go to next step. If outside mirrors system check was not performed, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  2. Check operation of memory function switch. If all functions of memory function switch are inoperative, go to next step. If all functions of memory function switch are inoperative, go to step  6 .
  3. Check for open in Black wire between memory function switch connector terminal "D" and Memory Mirror Module (MMM) connector C1 terminal F3. See Figure . If faulty circuit is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  5 .
  4. Repair open in Black wire between memory function switch and Memory Mirror Module (MMM). After repairs, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  5. Replace memory function switch. See DRIVER'S DOOR SWITCH ASSEMBLY  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  6. If memory function switch memory 1 button is inoperative, go to next step. If memory 1 button works, go to step  10 .
  7. Disconnect memory function switch connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between switch terminals "A" and "E". See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Press memory 1 button while monitoring DVOM. If continuity is indicated when button is pressed, go to next step. If continuity is not indicated when button is pressed, go to step  5 .
  8. Check for open or short to ground in White wire between memory function switch connector terminal "A" and MMM connector C1 terminal E2. If faulty circuit is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  21 .
  9. Repair open or short to ground in White wire between memory function switch and MMM. After repairs, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  10. If memory function switch memory 2 button is inoperative, go to next step. If memory 2 button works, go to step  14 .
  11. Disconnect memory function switch connector. Using DVOM, measure resistance between switch terminals "C" and "E". Press memory 2 button while monitoring DVOM. If continuity is indicated when button is pressed, go to next step. If continuity is not indicated when button is pressed, go to step  5 .
  12. Check for open or short to ground in Purple wire between memory function switch connector terminal "C" and MMM connector C1 terminal F2. If faulty circuit is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  21 .
  13. Repair open or short to ground in Purple wire between memory function switch and MMM. After repairs, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  14. If memory function switch SET button is inoperative, go to next step. If SET button works, go to step  18 .
  15. Using DVOM, measure resistance between switch terminals "B" and "E". Press SET button while monitoring DVOM. If continuity is indicated when button is pressed, go to next step. If continuity is not indicated when button is pressed, go to step  5 .
  16. Check for open or short to ground in Orange wire between memory function switch connector terminal "B" and MMM connector C1 terminal E3. If faulty circuit is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  21 .
  17. Repair open or short to ground in Orange wire between memory function switch and MMM. After repairs, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  18. Using DVOM, measure resistance between switch terminals "D" and "E". Press EXIT button while monitoring DVOM. If continuity is indicated when button is pressed, go to next step. If continuity is not indicated when button is pressed, go to step  5 .
  19. Check for open or short to ground in Black wire between memory function switch connector terminal "D" and MMM connector C1 terminal F3. If faulty circuit is found, go to next step. If circuit is okay, go to step  21 .
  20. Repair open or short to ground in Black wire between memory function switch and MMM. After repairs, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
  21. Replace MMM. See MEMORY MIRROR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs, go to OUTSIDE MIRROR SYSTEM CHECK  under TROUBLE SHOOTING.
