Shifter Assembly: Installation

  1. To install, position the shifter assembly (1) to body. Install the 5 rivets (2) attaching shifter assembly to body. See Fig 1 . Raise the vehicle. Install the shift control linkage to the shift lever. Lower the vehicle. Connect the automatic transmission control electrical connector.
  2. Install the console rear support (4). Install the rear air duct by sliding forward. Install the rear air duct front support nuts (1). See Figure . Tighten the rear air duct front support nuts (1) to 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m).
  3. Install the console assembly. See CENTER CONSOLE  . Adjust the shift linkage. See ADJUSTMENTS in appropriate AUTOMATIC article in TRANSMISSION SERVICING.
