Removal Procedure

WARNING: When a hood hold open device is being removed or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the vehicle or personal injury.
  1. Open and support the cargo door.
    CAUTION: Refer to LIFTGATE ASSIST ROD NOTICE .
  2. Using a flat bladed tool pry the retainer clip away from the ball stud socket.

  3. Remove the upper end of the assist rods from the ball stud.

  4. Remove the lower end of the assist rods from the ball stud.
  5. Remove the assist rods from the cargo door.

  6. Remove ball stud bolts.
  7. Remove ball stud bracket.
