Circuit/System Testing
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2008 Cadillac SRX. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The rear video display contains infrared transmitters for the wireless headphones and the infrared receiver for the video system remote control. The rear video display processes the signal from the remote devices and sends the requests to the radio via the remote infrared signal circuits. If the display is in the closed position, the infrared signals will not be available for the operation of the wireless headphones and the remote control.
- Ignition ON, rear entertainment system ON, verify the system works with a known good remote.
- If the known good remote operates properly, replace the suspect remote.
- Operate the radio and verify the wireless headphones operate properly.
- If the wireless headphones do not operate properly, refer to Video Entertainment System Wireless Headphone Inoperative .
- If the radio does not respond, test the remote infra-red signal circuits between the radio and the rear audio controller for an open, short to ground or short to B+.
- If all circuits test normal, replace the rear video display.
IMPORTANT:
Test or replace the remote batteries before performing the circuit/system test.
