Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Switch

This switch is connected to transmission gear selector and signals PCM when transmission is in Park or Neutral. PCM uses this information for determining control of ignition timing, converter clutch and idle speed. To check function of PNP switch, perform functional check of switch. See SYSTEM/COMPONENT TESTS - GASOLINE article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE section.
