DTC 54, Feds Fuel Enable Failure: Testing

  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position, leaving engine off. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator does not illuminate, see the BASIC TESTING article. If SERVICE ENGINE SOON indicator illuminates, check for PCM DTC P0601 or P0602. Diagnose and repair as necessary. If DTCs are not present, check for CCM DTC 51, 52 or 53. Diagnose and repair as necessary. If PCM DTC P0601 or P0602 and CCM DTC 51, 52, or 53 are not present, go to next step.
  2. Clear DTCs. Turn ignition switch to OFF position, then to ON position. Check for CCM DTC 54. If DTC 54 sets, replace CCM. If DTC 54 does not set, thoroughly inspect wiring and connectors. Failure to thoroughly inspect wiring and connectors may result in misdiagnosis and replacement of good components.
