DTC 81, Invalid Vehicle Configuration Detected: Notes

Serial data circuit is a communication link between CCM, PCM, DERM, EBTCM, RTD module and heater/air conditioning programmer (if equipped with electronic heating/air conditioning). CCM requests and receives information from PCM during start-up. Information is compared to configuration information stored in CCM. This determines if CCM has been programmed for vehicle's current engine configuration.

DTC 81 will set when start-up has occurred and CCM stored engine configuration does not match information received from PCM.

When DTC 81 is set, SYS will flash.

DTC 81 will clear when after start-up, CCM receives configuration information from PCM that matches engine configuration stored in CCM.

NOTE: DO NOT drive vehicle more than 100 miles after installing NEW CCM without first programming EEPROM. If vehicle is driven 100 miles without first programming EEPROM, odometer mileage information will not download into EEPROM.
