Cs144 Generator

NOTE: This test requires CS Electronic Generator Tester (J-41450-B).
  1. Mount generator in a suitable test stand according to test stand manufacturer's instructions. Ensure test stand is capable of driving generator at 6500 RPM.
  2. Ensure test stand battery is fully charged when performing test. Ensure load tester is turned off. Ensure ammeter is connected in series with test stand leads. Connect positive battery terminal to BATT terminal of generator. Connect negative battery terminal to generator housing.
  3. Verify tester by performing CS electronic generator tester self-test according to manufacturer's instructions.
  4. Connect CS electronic generator tester Red lead to generator output terminal. Connect CS electronic generator tester Black lead to generator housing. If CS electronic generator tester Green POWER light illuminates, go to next step. If light does not illuminate, recheck connections.
  5. Connect CS electronic generator tester 4-pin connector to generator. If CS electronic generator tester Red DIAGNOSTIC light illuminates, go to next step. If light does not illuminate, repair faulty generator assembly or replace faulty regulator.
  6. With Red and Green tester lights illuminated, slowly increase generator speed. Red DIAGNOSTIC light should go out before generator reaches 2500 RPM. Increase speed to 6500 RPM. Red DIAGNOSTIC light should remain out. If test conditions are okay, go to next step. If test conditions are not met, repair or replace generator.
  7. Adjust load tester to obtain 98 amps output. If Red DIAGNOSTIC light remains out, generator is okay. If 98 amps output cannot be reached, check test stand load tester.
  8. Turn off test load. Stop test stand. Disconnect ground lead from generator housing before disconnecting BATT lead. Remove generator from test stand.
