Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the shift linkage.





3. Disconnect the electrical connectors.





4. Remove the park/neutral position switch mounting bolt and nut.





5. Remove the shift selector lever nut and the lever
6. Remove the PNP switch

Installation Procedure
1. Place the shift shaft in N (Neutral).
2. Align the flats of the shift shaft with the switch.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.






3. Install the park/neutral position switch mounting bolt and nut.
^ Tighten the bolts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).





4. Install the shift lever and nut

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.





5. Install the park/neutral position switch mounting bolt and nut.
^ Tighten the bolts to 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).

6. Connect the shift linkage.

Important: Ensure that the engine will only start in the P (Park) or the N (Neutral) position.

7. Connect the negative battery cable.
