Camshaft Position Sensor

The Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor is a signal generator (pick-up coil and magnet) and a signal rotor. CMP sensor is mounted in cylinder head. A pulsing signal (one pulse per cylinder) is sent to PCM and is used to identify cylinder, calculate engine speed, determine and monitor cylinder misfire. For component locations, see Figure or Figure .
