Once EEPROM is reprogrammed, perform powertrain On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) system check. See POWERTRAIN ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC (OBD) SYSTEM CHECK in appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. Ensure engine is idling for one minute before checking for DTCs when performing powertrain OBD system check. After EEPROM is reprogrammed, proper Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor variation learn procedure must be performed. For 3.4L, see CRANKSHAFT POSITION (CKP) SENSOR VARIATION LEARN PROCEDURE (3.4L). NOTE:
If EEPROM programming fails, ensure all electrical connections on PCM are okay. Check Techline® for latest software. If EEPROM programming still fails, replace PCM.
