Diagnostic Procedures

- Perform diagnostic system check - engine controls. See DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK - ENGINE CONTROLS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. After performing diagnostic system check - engine controls, go to next step.
- Start engine. Perform the scan tool clear DTC information function. Operate engine for at least one minute or until the MIL illuminates. Turn ignition off. Is DTC P1510 set? If yes, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS . If no, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Using a DVOM connected to ground, backprobe the battery positive voltage circuit at the PCM. Is voltage reading about battery voltage? If yes, go to step 5 . If no, go to next step.
- Repair the open or the short in the battery positive voltage circuit. Did you complete the repair? If yes, go to step 7 . If no, see DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
- Check for poor connections at PCM. Repair as necessary. Was a repair necessary? If yes, go to step 7 . If no, go to next step.
- Replace PCM. Perform PCM relearn procedure. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE under PROGRAMMING. After replacing PCM, go to next step.
- Use scan tool in order to clear the DTCs. Turn ignition off for 30 seconds. Start and operate engine for one minute. Is DTC P1510 set? If yes, go to next step. If no, go to step 2 .
- Using scan tool, observe stored information and Capture Info. Does the scan tool display any DTCs that you have not diagnosed? If yes, diagnose affected DTCs. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS . If no, system is okay.
