Removal Procedure
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure .
- Disconnect the negative battery cable.
- Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor connector.
- Disconnect the breather hose from the valve cover.
- Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the valve cover.
- Disconnect the throttle cables from the throttle body and the bracket.
- Remove the fuel pressure regulator. Refer to Fuel Pressure Regulator Replacement .
- Disconnect the fuel return line at the fuel rail.
- Disconnect the fuel inlet line at the fuel rail.
- Remove the fuel rail retaining bolts.
- Use care when servicing the fuel system components, especially the fuel injector electrical connectors, the fuel injector tips, and the injector O-rings. Plug the inlet and the outlet ports of the fuel rail in order to prevent contamination.
- Do not use compressed air to clean the fuel rail assembly as this may damage the fuel rail components.
- Do not immerse the fuel rail assembly in a solvent bath in order to prevent damage to the fuel rail assembly.
- Remove the fuel rail with the fuel injector channel cover and the injectors attached.
- Disconnect the fuel injector channel cover connectors.
- Remove the fuel injector retainer clips.
- Remove the fuel injectors by pulling them down and out.
- Discard the fuel injector O-rings.
NOTE:
