Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair

MASS AIR FLOW (MAF) SENSOR REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve tube (4) from the air cleaner intake duct.
2. Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector (3).
3. Disconnect the mass air flow (MAF) sensor electrical connector (5).
4. Loosen the clamps (2,6) and remove the air cleaner intake duct with the MAF sensor from the throttle body and the air cleaner housing cover (8).
5. Loosen the clamp and remove the MAF sensor from the air cleaner intake duct.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




1. Install the MAF sensor to the air cleaner intake duct.

Tighten
Tighten the clamp to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

2. Install the air cleaner intake duct with the MAF sensor to the throttle body and the air cleaner housing cover (8).

Tighten
Tighten the clamps to 2 N.m (18 lb in).

3. Connect the MAF sensor electrical connector (5).
4. Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector (3).
5. Install the PCV valve tube (4) to the air cleaner intake duct.
6. Start and idle the engine.
7. Inspect the air intake duct for leaks.
