Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the engine harness electrical connectors (4) to the ECM.
  2. Install the ECM (2) to the air cleaner cover.
  3. Install the air cleaner assembly cover.
    4. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice .
  4. Install the air cleaner cover (1) to the air cleaner assembly (3) and tighten the cover screws.

    Tighten:  Tighten the screws to 4 N.m (35 lb in).

  5. Install the left sheet metal diagonal brace. Refer to Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace Replacement (Pontiac) or Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace Replacement (Chevrolet) or Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace Replacement (Buick) .
  6. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  7. If a new ECM is being installed, program the EEPROM. Refer to Control Module References .
