Passenger Presence System Preload System Test
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 GMC Acadia, 2011 Chevrolet Traverse, and 2011 Buick Enclave. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
- Before the passenger presence system can be checked for preloads the front passenger seat must be completely empty of all items. The presence of any items on the front passenger seat will affect the calibration and operation of the passenger presence system. When the preload test is performed, the instrument cluster and dash lights will begin illuminating at varying intensity. This is normal operation during the Passenger Presence Sensor Learn procedure and does not indicate additional system faults.
- The Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle must be performed after successfully completing the preload test procedure to ensure the system is functioning properly.
- Empty the front passenger seat, this system is susceptible to conductive material.
- With the scan tool, perform the Passenger Presence Sensor Learn procedure.
- Using the scan tool, check for DTC B0081 in history. If the Passenger Presence Sensor Learn procedure fails or DTC B0081 is current, confirm that there is no conductive material on the seat. Perform the Passenger Presence Sensor Learn test again. If the test fails again, for heated seats, ensure that the sensor pad is on top of the heater element. Once the test successfully completes, cycle the ignition OFF.
- Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle after successfully completing the Passenger Presence Sensor Learn procedure to ensure the system is functioning properly.
