Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the appropriate harness connector listed below.
    • K20 ECM harness connector X1 - with L99 and LS3
    • K20 ECM harness connector X2 - with LLT
  2. Connect a test lamp between the appropriate signal circuit terminal listed below and ground.
    • Brake applied signal terminal 9 - with L99 and LS3
    • Brake applied signal terminal 52 - with LLT
  3. Ignition ON, turn the stop lamps ON and OFF by applying and releasing the brake pedal. The test lamp should turn ON and OFF when changing between the selected states.
    • If the test lamp is always ON, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
    • If the test lamp is always OFF, test the signal circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the K9 BCM.
  4. If all circuits test normal, replace the K20 ECM.
